The Norcross City Council recently voted to apply for Gwinnett’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in Jan. for FY2021 funds. The federally funded CDBG program is meant to fund projects and programs that benefit underserved populations including lower income neighborhoods, persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

Norcross department heads including Community Development, Public Works and the Downtown Manager collectively recommended that Norcross apply for funding to repair sidewalks that could present trip hazards.

In the past, CDBG funds have included the S. Peachtree Sidewalk (currently under construction) and limited trip hazard removal (currently recommended to receive FY20 funds).

The Norcross Public Works Department has been working to address city‐wide trip hazards year by year using maintenance funds. This project award would allow the project to be complete within one year. Projected cost of the project is $78,100.
