Norcross decides against one-way street

The Norcross City Council voted Monday night against converting Wingo Street into a one-way street. The Department of Public Works, Utilities and Parks had suggested the change earlier this year in an effort to address safety issues on Wingo Street. Had it been approved, traffic would have been diverted onto nearby Rakestraw Street.

Among other concerns, Gwinnett County Public Schools had expressed a change to the street and adjoining Born Street would create challenges for school bus traffic and increase overall travel time for students. Additional complaints about safety from residents and business owners resulted in the city council unanimously voting against the plan. Wingo Street will remain open to two-way traffic.
