Currently, anyone that qualifies to run for a city council seat in Norcross must resign from serving on any Norcross city boards, commissions or authorities. If the individual’s quest for a city council seat is unsuccessful then they may not be able to re-join the board since their seat may have been filled in their absence.

A proposed amendment to the city charter regarding conflicts of interest would allow those volunteers to continue in their appointed positions as non-voting members after qualifying as a candidate for nomination or election to public office in Norcross. If elected, the appointed board member would then be required to resign.
