The Norcross City Council recently approved a resolution allowing for the closure and sale to the highest bidder of Giles Street and its right of way. The city’s Unified Development Ordinance created a new mixed use and commercial district for certain properties adjacent to Buford Highway entitled the BH Buford Highway zoning district (the “BH District”) with the intention to encourage the redevelopment of Buford Highway.

Giles Street is a dead-end street that is in a poor state of repair. By closing the street and making it available for sale, the owners of the properties adjacent to Giles Street may be able to sell their properties to a developer for the purpose of developing an approximately seventy-unit condominium complex which will be served by a private road.
