The Norcross City Council voted unanimously to increase minimum police salaries from $16.64 to between $20.19 and $21.81 depending on the number of hours employed, and to adjust existing police officers salaries to align with these minimums.

The decision follows a Norcross human resources survey of police salaries throughout the state. Norcross officials noted police salaries have not been reviewed since 2008. Based on the city’s research, Norcross police salaries ranked lowest compared to Lawrenceville starting at $20.91, Lilburn at $19.13, Duluth at $18.88, Suwanee at $18.68, Doraville at $18, and Snellville at $17.40.

Further research indicates many of these cities, as well as the county, have plans to increase starting salaries.
