The Norcross City Council voted Dec. 7 to amend the city’s Code of Ordinances related to livestock to reflect changes made earlier this year by Gwinnett County. Revisions include guidelines for raising and keeping honeybees and define restrictions for keeping chickens for personal pleasure or use on residential property.

Among the restrictions, homeowners may keep no more than six chickens on any lot, and lots must be at least one-half acre or more. Chickens must be housed at least 20 feet from any property line, 50 feet from any residence other than the owner’s residence and contained at all times.

Keeping roosters is not permitted.
