Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful is coordinating what it calls the largest tree cycling event in Georgia now through Jan. 16 at numerous local fire departments.

Before dropping off live Christmas trees, residents should make sure they are free of decorations, lights and stands. Most of the trees collected will be transformed into mulch for use in landscaping projects throughout Gwinnett, including local parks, roadway beautification initiatives and more. Some trees will be sunk into area lakes to serve as fish habitats, while others will be converted to fuel and other uses.
