At age 94, Powder Springs resident William Harry “WH” Hill won his fifth straight first-place blue ribbon last month at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, considered the World Series of walking horse shows. Hill, a retired surgeon, won in an owner-amateur class for riders age 70 and older, riding his and his wife’s horse, Kudos for Cash. The competition includes a slow walk, a running walk and a canter.
The event is an 11-day annual festival in Shelbyville, Tenn., with 1,500 horses competing in 171 classes and more than $650,000 in prizes awarded.
