Georgia Department of Transportation and construction partner C.W. Matthews Contracting Company, Inc. will begin construction on the U.S. 78/Ga. 10 Loop project in Athens beginning April 30.

Nightly single lane closures will occur 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The closures will begin just north of the Milledge Avenue Bridge and extend south of U.S. 78/Ga. 10.

The project includes resurfacing approximately 12 miles along the corridor – including travel lanes, shoulders, and exits.

The project is expected to be complete in Dec. Exact dates may change due to weather or other factors. Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones and to watch for workers.
