Newnan man fatally shot in a Kia, police arrest 1, seek 2 more

A shooting early Friday morning left one man dead and now Newnan police are looking for two suspects.

Travalas Acres, of Newnan, was found shot to death in a silver Kia, Lt. Tate Washington, of the Newnan Criminal Investigation Unit, said in a statement.

Police responded to a car accident on the access road at 121 Newnan Crossing Bypass, near the Target shopping center.

Acres was unresponsive in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound, officials said.

Coweta County Emergency Medical Services determined that Acres was dead.

Witnesses told detectives they saw at least three people flee from the vehicle, Washington said.

Two of the individuals ran back up the access road toward Ashley Park, while a third ran in the opposite direct, Washington said.

With the information provided by witnesses at the scene, detectives arrested Willie Louis Turner ll in connection with the shooting, but two other suspects remain on the loose, Washington said.
