Construction is underway on what will become Forsyth County’s eighth high school — an alternative campus called the Alliance Academy for Innovation.

Designed as a career and workforce development school, the $33 million project is set to open in August 2018 on Lanier 400 Parkway off of Ga. 400 in Cumming.

Set for an eventual enrollment of 1,200, the secondary school will zero in on high-demand, high growth and high-wage careers, with students learning in simulated business and industry environments. It will also have a Junior Achievement Discovery Center for North Georgia and will become a training and development center for business and industry at night

Lambert High School Assistant Principal Brandi Cannizzaro was recently named as the school’s first principal.
