Seven newly-appointed principals were at the helm in the Cherokee County School District as the new school year began on Monday.
In one high-profile change, Todd Miller has taken over as principal at Cherokee High School, Miller recently finished an eight-year stint as assistant principal and athletic director at Sequoyah High School. He replaces Debra Murdock, who has taken over as director of school operations.
Also new in their posts are: Woodstock Middle School Principal David Childress, Arnold Mill Elementary School Principal Dan Fuller, Avery Elementary School Principal Lisa Turner, Johnston Elementary School Principal Amy Graham, Oak Grove Elementary School Fine Arts Academy Principal Penny Valle and Tippens Education Center Principal Kelly Strickland.
The district said in addition, three veteran CCSD principals have transferred to other campuses and 12 new assistant principals have been appointed.
