Heritage Walk and Birmingham Highway in Milton is to transition from a conventional intersection to a roundabout on Thursday, June 28, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

The traffic shift is a preliminary to the full opening of Heritage from Birmingham to Crabapple Road. Still to be done at the Heritage-Birmingham roundabout are the installation of lights, a sidewalk, leveling and paving, GDOT said; estimated project completion is August.

Elsewhere along Heritage, GDOT contractors earlier this month were to remove the temporary, all-way stop at Itaska Walk, according to Milton officials. Itaska will remain stop-controlled with supplemental signs saying, “Cross Traffic Does Not Stop.”

Meanwhile, a second roundabout being installed at Heritage and Crabapple is awaiting the installation of lights and a sidewalk. Information: https://bit.ly/1lV9ibQ
