Northwest Forsyth County will play host to a new park by springtime.

Officials broke ground Tuesday for Eagle’s Beak Park off Old Federal Road in Ball Ground. Work will now commence on Phase 1, of the 230-acre park which will feature a canoe and kayak launch on the Etowah River, nature trails, restrooms and parking.

The $1.36 million passive park project is being handled by Tri Scapes Inc. Money for the development came from the voter-approved 2008 Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond and the SPLOST VI program. Land for the facility was purchased in 2009.
