Main Street Fayetteville has released its 2019 commemorative Christmas ornament.

The colored metal decoration features the Southern Oaks house, which was built around 1913 for then-Mayor T. R. Gay. Gay reportedly wanted the house to impress railroad passengers traveling through Fayetteville along what is now North Jeff Davis Drive. Blanche Redwine bought the house in 1948 and converted it into three apartments; the house was renovated in 2001 and is now used for events.

The ornaments are available for $20.33 in the Fayetteville Welcome Center, on the first floor of the Historic Courthouse on the downtown square, which is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Information: 770-719-4173.
