Meritage Homes of Georgia, Inc. will provide roadway and transportation improvements on Floyd Road and Glore Road in Mableton.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners recently approved a request from Meritage, with stipulations, to rezone property at Floyd Road and Glore Road for a subdivision to be known as Willowcrest that will include townhomes, bungalows and single-family residences.

Due to the anticipated increase in traffic generated by this new development, roadway improvements will be required, according to Cobb Transportation Agency Director Erica Parish.

Construction of a deceleration/right-turn lane with right-in/right-out on Floyd Road next to the Willowcrest road frontage will be among those improvements.

Also included will be construction of a left-turn lane on Glore Road and sidewalk, curb and gutter along Glore Road.

Additionally, Meritage will be required to connect Willowcrest’s internal streets to Green Valley Road and to donate sufficient right-of-way on Floyd Road and Glore Road.

These roadway improvements are required by Meritage at no cost to Cobb, Parish noted.

Meritage also is required to provide Cobb with a revised traffic study for the new site plan layout to ascertain the need for a traffic signal at the intersection of Floyd Road and Glore Road.

If a signal is determined to be needed within two years of the development’s completion, Meritage will coordinate efforts with Cobb to agree upon a level of funding participation by Meritage for its installation.
