Three soccer fields in Fayetteville’s McCurry Park and a baseball field in Kiwanis Park will be provided with new lighting following funding approval from Fayette County’s Board of Commissioners.

The $394,534 bid was awarded on Oct. 25 to West Georgia Lighting, Inc., for fields 1, 5 and 6 at McCurry. The board also approved transferring $40,000 from the Kiwanis Park capital improvement budget to the McCurry Park budget to fully fund the project. The county’s parks and recreation department began refurbishing lighting at all parks starting in 2003, and has made upgrades at 23 fields since 2004 based on a study that determined project priorities.

Three companies submitted bids for the latest round of installations at McCurry and Kiwanis, with WGL having the lowest.
