Kennesaw has a new council member to fill the rest of the term for imprisoned former mayor and council member Leonard Church.
Continuing to receive his monthly city pension, Church is serving an 18-year prison sentence for child molestation and sexual exploitation of children.
A former member of the Kennesaw Development Authority, Nimesh Patel had no opposition for the May 24 primary, which also had no write-in candidates for this Post 3 vacancy.
Cobb County Magistrate Court Judge Philip P. Taylor recently administered oaths of office to Patel whose term will expire in 2017.
An attorney, Patel received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, his law degree from the University of Arkansas and his master’s degree in tax law from the University of Denver.
A Kennesaw resident since 2000, Nimesh and his wife Jennifer have two daughters.
