A center to serve those with little or no health insurance is opening in Palmetto with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Friday.

Palmetto Health Council, Inc., a network of seven federally qualified health centers, will be celebrating completion of a new 21,000 square foot medical office. The center was built with a $6.3 million grant under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The new facility, at 643 Main St., will be open for tours and free health workshops beginning Sunday through Dec. 20. Information: www.phcga.com.
