The Cobb Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to accept a $2 million grant from the Board of Regents, Georgia Public Library Services for a new East Marietta Library as a part of the 2016 special purpose local option sales tax program.

As required by the state, the project must begin by December when at least five percent of the grant must be spent.

This library will replace the current one, 2051 Lower Roswell Road, that was constructed in 1966.

The facility also will include a black box theater, classrooms and a cafe.
