New dean named at Emory
A math scholar who served as dean of undergraduates at Rice University will be the new dean of Emory College of Arts and Sciences at Emory University, officials announced Monday.
Robin Forman starts July 1. He will succeed Robert A. Paul, a cultural anthropologist and psychoanalyst who was dean since 2001.
Emory officials said Forman helped foster a strong student experience, such as leading the creation of Rice University’s Center for Civic Engagement to enhance student involvement in volunteer, internship and research roles with the greater Houston community.
"In a national pool of significant stature, Robin stood out as an academic visionary, with a rare combination of intellectual acuity, administrative accomplishment and a deft human touch to lead the college into the next decade," Earl Lewis, Emory’s provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, said in a statement.
