Construction of the new spillway on Lake Peachtree in Peachtree City is proceeding on schedule. Project manager Dan Davis told the City Council on Jan. 4 that the $4.4 million project is also on budget, with only minor delays pouring concrete because of the unseasonably cold temperatures in the last few weeks.

Davis said the lake level is scheduled to be raised another two feet in late February as construction of the “piano key weir” portion of the dam begins. The goal is to stay ahead of the vegetation growth season that plagued the lake when it was dredged in 2015-16.

Completion is expected in May.
