The Dacula City Council has approved a $2.8 million proposed budget for fiscal year 2015.

Thanks in part to a budget surplus of $300,000 this year, largely the result of an unexpected payment from Gwinnett County, the proposed budget represents a slight decrease from the 2014 budget.

The new budget includes funds to complete an expansion of City Hall and a 3 percent cost-of-living raise for the city’s 14 employees.

Construction to add storage space and update the building’s exterior appearance is slated to cost about $425,000. Excess fiscal year 2014 funds will be used to replace aging city equipment and several department vehicles.
