Atlanta’s Westside community has a new, free COVID-19 testing center to serve its residents.

The testing center opened June 5 at The Good Samaritan Health Center, located at 1015 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in northwest Atlanta, according to a news release.

The center traditionally offers medical care, dental care, behavioral health, health education, and healthy living services to patients on a sliding fee based on income and household size. The remaining cost is covered by donations.

The testing site is in partnership with CVS Health. “Partnering with CVS Health increases access to COVID-19 testing in our community. For many of our patients, transportation limitations and lack of access to internet for scheduling has prevented them from receiving testing,” Breanna Lathrop, chief operating officer of Good Samaritan Health Center, said in the news release.

The testing site will be open to the public by appointment at no cost, according to the news release. Patients need to pre-register by calling 404-523-6571 to schedule a same-day time slot for testing.

“Working with partners like Good Samaritan is an important part of our comprehensive strategy to increase access to COVID-19 testing,” said David Casey, chief diversity officer of CVS Health, also said in the news release. “This joint effort allows us to tap into the network of a trusted organization with strong community ties to further expand testing in areas of greatest need.”

CVS Health already is offering drive-thru testing at 1,000 CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide. Since mid-March, the company has performed nearly 200,000 tests nationwide, according to the release.

Patients will need to meet criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to be eligible for testing. They will also have to meet age guidelines.

Results will be provided on-the-spot.
