The Henry County Board of Commissioners appointed Cheri Hobson-Matthews to the position of county manager at a special called meeting March 22, to begin serving immediately.

She has spent 15 years in Henry County government and most recently worked as assistant county manager. The vote was unanimous and without discussion, as the entire meeting took two minutes. An employment agreement was accepted for a term of three years at an annual salary of $154,000. The county manager search was conducted internally and initially attracted 15 candidates, according to a spokesperson.

Matthews and Patrick O’Connor were named finalists March 8, and the commissioners made their final selection immediately after the conclusion of the required 14-day waiting period.
