New air-traffic control tower at Dobbins

Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta opened its new $7.5 million air-traffic control tower.

Dobbins Air Reserve Base hosted a grand opening for its new air traffic control tower. The $7.5 million structure is 40 feet taller than its predecessor.

The tower is nine stories tall and has of 7,000 square feet of space.

The tower provides air traffic control service to the 94 AW, Lockheed Martin (AF Plant 6), U.S. Army Reserves, the Georgia Army Guard and the FBI.

Dobbins control tower was the 12th busiest in the Air Force last year, with over with over 70,000 operations.
