When a neighbor saw flames coming from a Snellville home Wednesday morning, they knocked on the door, but got no response.

Gwinnett firefighters arrived to the home at 8:30 a.m., finding heavy smoke and flames coming from the attic and second floor of the Starboard Lane Southwest home. When they tried to enter the home to search for victims, the home’s roof partially collapsed, forcing the firefighters to run out of the house.

Once the flames were reduced, the search for victims continued. Nobody was found, and the home’s owner returned while fire crews were still on the scene, according to a Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation. A mother and three children were displaced by the fire.
