A College Park man was convicted Tuesday of murder and other felony charges in the 2010 shooting death of a man who'd beaten up his brother.

The office of Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard announced the conviction in a press release.

According to Howard's office, Pedro Alvarez, Jr., 26, shot 28-year-old Ainsley Jackson to death outside Freeman Court apartments in College Park on Jan. 21, 2010. Alvarez was upset Jackson had beaten his brother up during a fight about marijuana sales.

Alvarez was sentenced to life plus five years by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter.
