As no one filed a challenge to three Woodstock City Council incumbents up for re-election this fall, the city has announced it will not hold the municipal general election originally scheduled for Nov. 5.

The candidates’ qualifying period was the third week of August, and incumbents David Potts (Ward 2), Tracy Collins (Ward 4) and Rob Usher (Ward 6) all qualified for re-election to four-year terms with no opposition, the city said.

The new council terms begin Jan. 1, 2020. A reception and swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Woodstock City Center, 8534 Main St. The next municipal election, for mayor and the Wards 1, 3 and 5 seats, is Nov. 2, 2021.
