Police pursued a pair of robbery suspects in a fleeing car on I-20 Monday and captured one of them near Candler Road.

The driver of a red Toyota was arrested after abandoning the car near the Candler Road exit and running on foot, said Gordy Wright, a spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.

The patrolman gave chase after spotting the car around 11 a.m. on the interstate and trying to stop it.

Atlanta police had issued a lookout for the vehicle in connection with a mugging outside the Bank of America at 1775 Howell Mill Road on Monday morning, said Officer Otis Redmond of the Atlanta Police Department. The victim complained that his assailant took his cash.

Redmond said the arrested suspect was identified as Kelvin Elmore. He was turned over to Atlanta police and charged with robbery.

The passenger also fled on foot, into a nearby apartment complex, and had not been apprehended as of 4 p.m.
