Mountain View Community Center will receive a new roof and new restrooms.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to award a $64,027 contract to Horizon Roofing for the repair and replacement of the roof, gutters and downspouts at the center, 3400 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta. For $96,950, AB Construction and Development will repair and renovate the restrooms and sanitary sewer piping.

Built in 1990, the center will be closed until the first of October, Cobb P.A.R.K.S. Director Jimmy Gisi told the commissioners. The roof will carry a 20-year, no-leak warranty.

Gisi said in a Tuesday memo, “The building is holding up well, but certain features and systems must be replaced or renovated to continue serving the public at a high level,” including community meetings, family reunions and wedding receptions.

Funding will come from the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
