Qualifying dates are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 19 and 20, and 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 21, the city said. The fee to run for a council seat is $27, and for mayor, $35.

According to the city, no one can serve as mayor or councilman unless he or she is at least 21 years old at the beginning of the term of office, and has been a resident of the city for at least one year prior to the date of the election.

The candidate must continue to live in Mountain Park during the term of office and be registered and qualified to vote in municipal elections in the city. Neither the mayor nor council member can hold any other elective or appointive office in the city.
