A motorist was killed overnight in a single-vehicle wreck in Cobb County.

Cobb police spokesman Michael Bowman said the crash happened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday on Blackwell Road near Sanford Drive.

Bowman told the AJC that the driver of a Jeep Wrangler, 25-year-old Gary M. Humphreys, lost control and struck a guardrail.

Humphreys, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died at the scene, Bowman said.

He said alcohol was believed to possibly be a contributing factor in the crash.
