A woman involved in a car crash that injured an Atlanta police officer in southwest Atlanta Saturday has died, Fulton County police said Monday.

Jacqueline Culp, 59, of Atlanta, died of injuries she received in the wreck that happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday at Cascade and Fairburn roads. Police said an APD cruiser driven by officer Joshua Sieck was traveling west on Cascade Road responding to a call for assistance when it collided with a BMW driven by Culp who was traveling south on Fairburn Road.

After the impact, the BMW sideswiped a Chevrolet Impala that was sitting at the red light on Cascade Road facing eastbound. Both Culp and Sieck had to be extricated from their vehicles. Sieck's car caught fire. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Culp was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where she died. The driver of the Impala was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The impact of the crash sent cars flying into Kenyatta White's Impala with her two children inside, she told Channel 2 Action News. Both children escaped injury, she said.

"The BMW hit my car and then the police car hit my car," said White. "I'm blessed. I'm just thankful that we're OK," White said.

She described the wreck for Channel 2, moments after she was released from the hospital Saturday.

"I saw the lights across the street and I looked over and the next thing I knew, there was the accident," White said. "I think the police car came across there too fast and it just happened so fast."

The crash is under investigation.
