The motorcyclist killed in Thursday morning’s collision with a tractor-trailer that shut down I-75 northbound in Henry County for several hours was identified Friday as Edward A. Bridges, 45, of Riverdale.

The wreck happened before 11:30 a.m. Thursday about a mile south of I-675. The northbound lanes of the interstate reopened around 3 p.m.

The wreck apparently happened when a southbound truck crossed the median and collided with a northbound motorcycle, killing Bridges.

Henry County police Sgt. Joey Smith said the accident was the result of an improper lane change by the tractor-trailer, and that charges are pending.
