A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday after colliding with a car near Duluth.
Gwinnett County police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said a passerby reported the crash at Duluth Highway and Meadow Church Road just before 4 p.m. Responding officers found the motorcyclist, later identified as Duluth resident Andrew Carson, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He later died at Gwinnett Medical Center.
The driver of the Nissan Altima that Carson collided with told police he was turning left onto Meadow Church Road when the motorcycle "came toward the intersection at a high rate of speed" and hit the side of the car. The Altima driver was hospitalized with "serious" injuries, Pihera said.
No charges have been filed. Police are investigating Carson's speed prior to the crash.
