A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday in a high-speed crash on a Cobb County road.

Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said Jesus Rodriguez, 24, of Marietta, was westbound on Cumberland Parkway shortly before 2:30 a.m. at a "high rate of speed" when he lost control of the 1996 Suzuki in a curve.

"The motorcycle left the roadway and the rider was ejected just after both struck a nearby guardrail," Pierce said.

Pierce said Rodriguez died at the scene.
