A Douglas County woman is accused of sending packages of heroin to her son who is an inmate at the Cobb County Jail.

Dina Jacklin is charged with one count each of trafficking heroin and conspiracy to commit a felony, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

The sheriff’s office’s Special Investigations Division in early July received information from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office that shipments of heroin had been sent to an inmate at its facility.

Those packages, which originated from an address allegedly registered to Jacklin, were allegedly addressed to the woman’s son, 36-year-old Aaron Jackson, the Douglas sheriff’s office said. The younger Jacklin has been housed at the Cobb jail since April 30 on drug charges, jail records show. The sheriff’s office said the packages had been intercepted “more than one occasion by Cobb County officials.”

Douglas sheriff’s office detectives executed a search warrant at Dina Jacklin’s home July 12 where they found 3.5 ounces of heroin, the office added. Jacklin was booked into the Douglas County Jail, and the sheriff’s office said the younger Jacklin is expected to be charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

This isn't the first known case of someone allegedly mailing drugs to a Cobb County Jail inmate. Jessica Culver of Ft. Oglethorpe was charged by the Cobb sheriff's office with one count each of items prohibited for possession by inmates and use of communications facilities to violate prohibited provisions.

Culver allegedly sent a greeting card filled with paper that tested positive for methamphetamine. The inmate on the receiving end of the card, Jonathan David Arwood, was also charged with the same crimes.

Cobb County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Glenn Daniel said the case is being investigated by the Marietta Cobb Smyrna Narcotics Unit.
