The mother of an 18-month-old girl found in a car in southwest Atlanta has been located, Atlanta police said.

Crystal Hitts, 32, was found in Riverdale on Saturday about 1 p.m., spokesman Sgt. Warren Pickard said. She is being taken to police headquarters for interviews and charges.

Hitts had been sought since the child was found Friday in a car near Lee Street and Oglethorpe Road in southwest Atlanta, police said.

The woman left Michigan this week for Atlanta, relatives told Channel 2 Action News. She last was seen Friday afternoon near the Bank of America near where the child was found.

The child was in the car, a silver Chrysler Pacifica, for about five hours, police said. She was taken to Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital.
