Folks planning to spend their Memorial Day weekend outdoors should keep their umbrellas and rainslickers close by.

Forecasters are calling for a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms Sunday afternoon, with a 50 percent chance Sunday night. Memorial Day will bring a 60 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms as temperatures climb to a high of 80.

"The low pressure system that's currently over Mississippi and Arkansas is moving further north, and as it does our precipitation chances are going to decrease," meteorologist Jessica Fieux said.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, she continued, there's a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms. It will drop to 40 percent on Thursday and 30 percent Friday and Saturday.
