UPDATE:  An earlier version of this story did not include the number of early voters at Fulton County's 12 outreach voting locations.

A record number of Fulton County’s registered voters have already cast ballots in this year’s election, according to initial numbers from the county elections office.

Early voting wraps up this Friday and each of the county's 24 locations opened this past Saturday as one final push to the Nov. 8 presidential election.

In all, 168,138 residents have cast ballots since early voting kicked off Oct. 17. More than 34,000 of those ballots were cast during the two weekends of early voting.

Fulton County was also one of eight to host voluntary Sunday voting. Civic organizations throughout metro Atlanta took advantage of the extra day by hosting "Souls to the Polls" drives, some which featured celebrities and clergy mobilizing churchgoers to the polls after Sunday service.

Fulton's turnout thus far has already exceeded that from four years ago, when about 152,000 people voted early. And county officials expect to set a new record of more than 220,000 early voters by the end of the week.
