Expect the glorious sunshine, blue skies and warm weather that greeted metro Atlanta dads Sunday to continue for much of next week.

The daytime high is expected to reach the upper 80s Monday and Tuesday, said Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

"High pressure centered to our east will continue to keep us mostly cloud free,”  Nitz said. The rain should stay to our north over the mountains of North Carolina, he added.

Expect a very hot beginning of summer.

"Wednesday marks the first day of summer and it's going to be hot, appropriately, to 90 degrees" Nitz said. "And we'll do it again on Thursday."

The nighttime lows will be in the mid to upper 60s.
