Nickajack Park in South Cobb will receive more parking spaces.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners agreed Jan. 22 to award a nearly $285,722 contract to Bartow Paving Company, Inc. as the low bidder, according to Cobb PARKS Director Jimmy Gisi.

Funding will come from the 2011 PARKS SPLOST Program for the park at 5500 Nickajack Park Road, Mableton.

Improvements to the athletic fields and a concession/restroom building at the park have been completed under a previous agreement, Gisi said.

The addition of parking capacity will further improve access to the athletic fields as well as to the park’s tennis courts and a passive picnic area, he added.

No new maintenance or operational costs are associated with this project.
