The number of people who obtained a diploma through the Cobb Literacy Council rose this year.

About 65 obtained a general equivalency diploma, or GED, through the council, said Nicole Carsten, a spokeswoman with CobbWorks, Inc., the group's parent organization. That is up from about 48 last year, she said.

The literacy council will hold a graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29.
