Car thieves continue to show Buckhead residents some non-love.

Overnight, residents in the 3400 block of Piedmont Road reported multiple thefts of laptops, smartphones, GPS units and other electronics. Jewelry and a handgun was also taken, said Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee.

Sixteen vehicles had broken windows, said Chafee.

The thefts occurred between 4 and 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The Buckhead area has been hit hard lately.

On July 19th, about 15 vehicles were broken into before 2:30 a.m. at the North Highland Steel loft apartments in the 240 block of North Highland Avenue. The same morning, less than a mile away, police got a call around 5 a.m. from the 1000 block of Euclid Avenue, where another 20 cars had been broken into.

Those car break-ins came just days after a weekend crime spree in which dozens of cars were broken into at several Buckhead apartment complexes, including some in gated apartment community parking lots.
