Builders have embarked on the third phase of a mixed-use project that will bring more apartments to the Smyrna area.

Phase 3 of West Village will feature 313 apartment units on nine acres of land along Atlanta Road at Interstate 285. Branch Properties, the real estate developer for the project, said the apartments will range from studios measuring 660 square feet to three-bedroom, two-bathroom units that are 1,484 square feet.

Amenities for the residents include a fitness center, dog park, pool and courtyard. There will also be 470 parking spaces accompanying the apartment complex. Summit Contracting Group is the general contractor for the project.

Construction on the third phase is expected to wrap up by 2021. The first group of units should come on the market in spring 2020.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
