Milton residents will have an opportunity to comment on multiple 2019 millage rate options to be presented by city staff at public hearings in the coming weeks.

The hearings are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, July 22, and 5:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Milton City Hall, 2006 Heritage Walk. The City Council is to adopt a millage rate at a special called meeting Aug. 12.

The options will include a return to the capped millage rate of 4.731 mills – the same rate used to calculate property tax bills from 2006 to 2017, and which excludes the separately calculated, green space bond millage rate, according to a city announcement.

“Advertising at the capped millage rate provides full transparency to the public regarding the maximum potential tax increase, while preserving the opportunity for more detailed council discussions on millage rate options and service levels,” said Finance Director Bernadette Harvill.
