The Milton City Council has approved an agreement allowing a digital fiber utility to install cable in the rights of way of eight streets.

Under the 10-year agreement, the Zayo Group will pay Milton an annual fee of $5,000 per mile, or $49,800 total, for the use of 9.96 miles of streets.

They are Bethany Bend from Ga. 9 to Cogburn Road; Cogburn from Bethany Bend to Hopewell Road; Hopewell from Cogburn to Birmingham Road; Birmingham from Hopewell to Ga. 372; and Hickory Flat Road from Birmingham to the county line.

Also, Thompson Road from Hopewell to near Fire Station No. 42; Lackey Road from Ga. 140 to the city limits; and Henderson to Freemanville to King roads from Birmingham to the county line.

According to its website, Zayo "provides communications infrastructure services, including fiber and bandwidth connectivity, colocation and cloud infrastructure to the world's leading businesses."
