The Milton City Council has approved two change orders totaling $175,760 for its engineering consultant Pond & Co. on the Northeast Crabapple Connector and Freemanville at Providence Roundabout projects.

On the first project, Pond had been tasked with providing a concept plan for the Northeast Crabapple Connector road with intersection improvements at Mayfield Road and Charlotte Drive, according to a staff report to the council. The connector would give motorists a way to bypass the congested intersection of Mayfield and Crabapple roads in the downtown Crabapple area.

The change order adds landscaping, lighting, transportation and engineering design services to the assignment, at an additional cost of $155,560, according to the consultant’s proposal.

In the Freemanville-Providence Roundabout project, it was found that additional traffic modeling was required due to a change in traffic patterns from the original traffic study of 2014, staff said. The cost of the change is $20,200.
