The Milton City Council has approved a resurfacing and reconstruction contract valued at $596,771 for two city streets.

Blount Construction Co. Inc. of Marietta was awarded the Public Works Department contract for the reconstruction and overlay of New Providence Road, from Arnold Mill Road (Ga. 140) to Ranchette Road; and for the resurfacing and patching of Ranchette, from New Providence to Arnold Mill.

Blount had submitted the lowest of four bids for the work, staff said in a report to the council. According to city bid documents, work is to begin within 10 days of the notice to proceed and be completed by Dec. 31.
